Almere to Brussels

The Elder from Almere helped us move everything out of the apartment.  The Elder on the right is one of our Jovos from Amsterdam, Elder Dekker.  He is going on his mission to Manchester, England tomorow.

The empty apartment that we closed.

We opened a new apartment in Grimbergen which is one of the suburbs of Brussels.  We had to hire someone with a lift truck to put the furniture through the second story window.  They put it on the platform and then move it up.

It was great.  We had all the furniture moved in 45 minutes.

They had to go through the tree.

The living room, messy but getting there.  This is a very nice apartment.  They are so glad to move in so they won't have to drive from Gent every day.

Thanksgiving

Our Friend Susan Anneveldt invited us to a Thanksgiving Service at the Pieterskerk in Leiden.  The Pilgrims arrived in Leiden in 1609. Their marriages, births, and deaths are recorded in the Pieterskerk and their minister, John Robinson, was buried here. They lived here until 1620 when the went to Plymouth, England, and boarded the Mayflower On Sept. 16, 1620.  The following year to give thanks for their survival, the pilgrims, the Separatists from Leiden, dined with the Native Americans at the first Feast of Thanksgiving.

The American School took part of the program which was about an hour and a half. They presented the colors and gave the pledge of allegiance.  They sang "My Country Tis of Thee", "God Bless America","America the Beautiful" and of course the dutch hymn "We Gather Together". "Amazing Grace", and "God of our Fathers".  The speakers were from different churchs and the Mayor of Leiden spoke.

The church was consecrated in 1121.  Until 1572 it was a catholic church.  Now it is a Dutch reformed church.

Jovo Conference Nov 20

Elder Caldwell and Elder Robison
We had a Jovo conference on Nov 20, 21, and 22. It was held in a little town of Lunteren.  All of the 4 senior couples stayed in a hotel while the Jovos stayed at a camp. The first night we had a dinner and a dance.
